In 2001 guitarist, composer, improvisor FRED FRITH released an album
of solo guitar performances called "Clearing" on Tzadik Records.
It was Fred's first studio guitar solo record since 1974's "Guitar
Solos" which established Fred as a very innovative solo guitarist.
The 2001 recording is beautifully improvised and presents many of
Fred's extended techniques. In this interview, Chris and Fred discuss
his guitar innovations and provide a unique track-by-track
discussion of this album.
